How much does a wedding photographer in Vienna cost?
The honest range in Vienna is wide: from a few hundred euros for someone starting out to well over five thousand for photographers with waiting lists. Most couples who care about photographs but aren’t collecting art end up somewhere between €1,800 and €3,500 for full coverage of the day.
What moves the number is not really the camera. It’s three things: how many hours of your day are covered, how experienced the person is when something goes wrong, and how much work happens after the wedding. Editing and sequencing a full wedding takes longer than photographing it.
Why cheap is expensive here
A wedding cannot be reshot. The risk you’re pricing is not “will the photographs be beautiful” — it’s “what happens when the ceremony runs forty minutes late, the church is dark, and the family portraits have to happen in eight minutes.” That is what experience costs, and it is invisible until you need it.
What to ask before comparing prices
Ask to see two or three complete weddings, start to finish — not a portfolio of best frames from thirty different days. Ask how many hours are included and what happens if the day overruns. Ask when you get the full gallery, in writing. Ask who actually photographs your wedding.
If two quotes are €1,000 apart, the difference is usually in those answers rather than in the pictures on the homepage.
For reference
My own collections start at €1,850 for six hours, with eight hours at €2,450 being what most weddings choose. Travel outside Vienna is quoted at cost. If your budget is below that, say so in your first email — I’d rather point you to someone good than have you overpay for a name.
